Install on HubSpot

See how visitors use your HubSpot pages.

Paste the Cuttl Tag into your site header HTML once. It then runs on website pages, landing pages and blog posts on that domain.

Add Cuttl to HubSpot

  1. Sign in to Cuttl, or create a free account. Add your site with the domain your HubSpot pages use. Open the site’s Install tab and copy the Cuttl Tag. It starts with <!-- Start Cuttl -->.
  2. In HubSpot, click the settings icon in the top bar.
  3. In the left sidebar, go to Content → Pages.
  4. Under Choose a domain to edit its settings, pick your domain. To cover every domain, pick Default settings for all domains.
  5. Paste the Cuttl Tag into Site header HTML. If you picked one domain and it uses the default settings, click Override default settings first.
  6. Click Save.
  7. In Cuttl, turn on Journey Insights for heatmaps and recordings, or Web Experiments for A/B tests. Admins can do it on the product’s page or in Settings → Plan & usage. A new workspace starts with both off, and until one is on, Cuttl keeps nothing from your site.

You need the Website settings permission in HubSpot to do this.

Check it works

  1. Open any page of your live site in a browser.
  2. In Cuttl, open the site’s Install tab. It shows when data last arrived, usually within a minute.
  3. Nothing yet? View the live page’s source and search for app.cuttl.io to check the Cuttl Tag is there. Then check that the site’s domain in Cuttl matches the address in your browser.

Good to know

  • Header HTML set for all domains also shows on HubSpot quotes. To keep Cuttl off quotes, add it to your website domain only.
  • A Cuttl site takes data from its domain and its subdomains. HubSpot pages on a different domain need their own site in Cuttl.
  • To leave out your own sessions, open any page of your site once with ?cuttl_ignore=1 at the end of the address.
Questions

HubSpot questions

Does it work on landing pages and blog posts?

Yes. Site header HTML goes on every HubSpot page on that domain.

Can I use it alongside HubSpot’s own tracking code?

Yes. Both can run on the same page.

Can I A/B test a landing page?

Yes. Change the headline, form text, images or buttons in Cuttl’s visual editor, and Cuttl shows which version gets more sign-ups.

Will it slow my pages down?

No. The Cuttl Tag is under 1.7 KB and loads the rest in the background, so it never blocks the page.
